The Powertrain
The Ram 1500 TRX gets its power from a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V-8, which is also referred to as the Hellcat engine. The TRX’s version generates 702 horsepower and gets 650 pound-feet of torque. It comes with four-wheel drive and uses an eight-speed automatic transmission. When you get behind the wheel expect to shoot up to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, and if you take it to the track, it will complete the quarter-mile in about 12 seconds.
The Exterior Design Enhancements
Ram made some changes to the 1500’s design for the TRX model. It has a bold front grille and an updated functional air intake scoop along with a flow-through R-A-M badge to make sure that there is an unobstructed airflow to the engine. It also has integrated amber identification lamps that make it stand out from the other Ram models.
The TRX comes standard with 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires developed specifically for the TRX. These tires have extra tread to get you better traction, and they ride on 18-inch alloy wheels. Ram updated the fenders and made them wider with an extra eight-inch flare to accommodate the tires and airflow features. This truck also comes with LED Smartbeam Intelligent headlights integrated right into the fenders.
The Interior
Inside the TRX, you’ll find upscale features and premium materials. It features a black and red color scheme, cloth and vinyl seats, and a 60/40 split for the rear seat. Optional upgrades include heated front seats, leather upholstery, and a flat-bottomed, heated steering wheel. You can also get ventilated front seats and reclining seats in the back.
The Technology
The standard infotainment screen in the TRX is a 12-inch touchscreen, and it comes with the Uconnect system along with a 10-speaker stereo. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, and this truck also offers a 19-speaker Harmon-Kardon stereo system as an option. Other optional tech features include wireless charging, navigation, satellite radio, and extra USB ports.
Safety Features
The Ram TRX offers the safety technology you need on the road. It has a rearview camera, and you can add a blind-spot monitor that can detect vehicles on both sides of a trailer, a digital rearview camera, and you can get a 360-degree surround-view camera. The Advanced Safety Group is optional and adds a forward-collision warning system with mitigation, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and a lane-keeping assist feature. Ram also offers trailering assist features such as integrated electronic trailer reverse steering control.
